County Administration of Vasterbotten

The County Administration of Vasterbotten is a state-run authority. It assists both the Parliament and the Government in ensuring the implementation of important decisions. It deals with many different issues such as regional planning, nature conservation and reindeer management.

County Council of Vasterbotten

The County Council of Vasterbotten is the largest employer in the region. Its main mission is to provide all citizens with high quality health, medical and dental care. The County Council also takes an active role in the development of the region's cultural life, tourism, trade and commerce.

Rural Economy and Agricultural Society of Vasterbotten

The Rural Economy and Agricultural Society of Vasterbotten is an independent members' organisation dedicated to enhancing an enterprising spirit in rural areas and to promoting a healthy environment in the countryside and the cities. The number of members across the country is approximately 75,000. The society are keen to participate in shaping the conditions for urban and rural life The members firmly believe that it is important to keep rural life vibrant and alive. They also realise that a healthy rural economy is beneficial to the nation as a whole and that our natural surroundings are more important than short-term commercial interests.
